Message Completed 120k service, 740cc Nismo injectors swapped in place of bad/leaking 740cc Deatschwerks, new EFI harness, Apex'i AFC replaced with Selin translator (pretty slick gadget!), installed BDE intake cam sprockets, and Nistune ECU installed by Steve Sadler / FC Tuning of London, England

Steve did the tuning at a shop about 60 miles from my house in the Netherlands called DP Engineering. They have some real interesting jobs they are working on and it was cool to chat with the two owner/operators about car guy stuff. Steve has a great deal of experience with Nissan motors and the dyno day turned into a sort of mini-meet for a couple dozen Dutch Nissan owners along with a couple of BMW's and an IS200 with a 1JZ swapped into it

Steve did the Nistune install on-site and tuned away. I was more than anxious. I was extremely nervous about my work with respect to the 120k service. That job is not for autowork newbies. I was especially nervous about the front main seal upon initial startup, but my fears were lifted when a gusher of oil failed to appear. By dyno-time, I was worried I didn't do a good enough job bleeding the air from the coolant system or missed a boost clamp or whatever, but all that was paranoia as the car ran fine and everything checked out.

After doing the unit conversions from metric the car tuned to 362whp and 417lb/ft @ roughly 16.7 psi. Temperature was right at 50F and 50% humidity. I goofed and filled up with european 95 *octane* instead of 98, the general consensus is that european 95 is on par with US 91 octane, though I can't find a definitive verification on this from any authority on the subject. A quick road test put a nice grin on my face just the same. Now I have to turn my attention to replacing a leaking power steering pump and a new electrical problem that I suspect is the result of a bad/incorrect battery. Then the task of tuning the suspension for duty at the Nurburgring. I made a few new friends who spend a great deal of time there and have more invitations to go than I will be able to accept I am sure.

On the downside, I was unable to get a set of Rob's 54mm throttle bodies installed in time for the dyno. I had difficulty finding an engine shop in the Netherlands that would do the porting of the intake plenum. I expect to have the plenum back this week. Also poor planning on my part, I did not think to buy some trash timing belt covers that I could cut open to allow adjustment of the BDE intake cam sprockets, so they were set at default.

Sidenote, this Maserati was getting a small modification package done to it. Engine displacement bumped up from 3.2L to 4.0...twin GT28rs swapped in, and a tune. Owner didn't want anything too extreme, said 650hp was fine, wants as much low-end as possible. Not my favorite Maserati, but a unique and nicely styled car nonetheless that will be a real land rocket when finished.

Thanks SpecialtyZ for getting me the stuff I needed asap and Bernie who went out of his way to hook me up with a PS pump, which I am yet to swap in and send back the core. Also Brandon Eyer provided me with a second intake plenum which I am using to install Rob Bastian's 54mm modified OEM throttle bodies. Both of those guys are easy to deal with and provide clear communication. I look forward to retuning later this year with the 54mm TB's and the BDE sprockets adjusted.
